a growable city

in a hyper-urbanized future, the modified indigenous form supports a high density commercial and cultural district. the city is characterized by its green culture. while the urban farming cannot make the city fully self-sustaining, it defines the cities culture and priorities. the tropical climate provides ample rainfall; water is stored and collected in pools. the water can be used as grey water for irrigation or treated for drinking.

the future of shopping is experiential rather than transactional. the promenade is a destination and a landmark inspired by la rambla in barcelona. the growth net cools the district's microclimate. fresh air and local produce support not only good physical health but also mental and social health.

the growth net is the cultural identity of this district and functions as a landmark. the suspension bridges underneath the net draw tourists to median. robots in the garden have taken over the labor intensive role humans previously occupied. they tend to the weeds. they monitor the growth. the hyper-personalized future of commerce benefits from 3d printing technology. the body is simply scanned rather than trying clothes on, they are fitted to you.
