glendale low density housing
this project was about creating housing in the low density suburban community of glendale. THE FORM WORKS THROUGH Operative strategies in order to create an urban plug capable of offering the creation of palatable compact housing. the operative used in this project was one with shifting and then slitting of a volume with certain densities and thicknesses.
these variations become a reflection oF the urban site. IT IS an operation that becomes an abstract machine in how it can be applied to a variety of sites, but each will have their own rules and therefore have different outcomes. this exploration of this operation becomes apparent not only in shifting and slicing in section, but also in plan, and then becomes part of the design of spaces both for the residents and the public.
